I had no idea what was in Young Living's Valor blend until recently. I used the exact same botanicals to make my Koa blend, but they were sourced by me and Tony....which means that every ingredient passed our tests for quality and potency.
I named my new blend "Koa", because it sounds awesome "koh-uh", and it means "brave" in Hawaiian. Koa is also the name of the largest native tree here on the islands. (A Koa tree is pictured in the image above)
Koa trees have a long history and a variety of uses...one of which is being food for our parasitic Hawaiian Sandalwood trees.
There is no actual Koa in the Koa blend. I would love to smell Koa's essential oils, but I've not yet heard of Koa being distilled for essential oil.
Needless to say, this blend is amazing...otherwise I wouldn't be writing about it. I never smelled Young Living's version, but my friend who had been buying it (and loving it), said that my Koa blend was much more appealing and enlivening.
I have also been carrying this blend around and getting a great response from my community.
The aroma is fresh and slightly sweet. It's both comforting and confronting at the same time...like it's asking us to become aware of anything we're using to make ourselves feel weak, cowardly, or self conscious....without judging ourselves about it.
Here's a quick look at the ingredients in my Koa blend:
