Description

Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil comes from the Ceylon or true cinnamon tree, which was originally native only to Sri Lanka. Unlike the more common cassia cinnamon, true cinnamon has several important healing properties, and it also carries a much richer aroma.

Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil is commonly used in aromatherapy for its detoxifying effects, for pain relief, to improve cirulation, for male sexual function, and as an emotional and physical stimulant. In addition, Cinnamon Bark essential oil is extremely powerful when used in blends, as it enhances the healing benefits of other oils.

This oil is great added to a massage blend for its ability to circulate blood into sore muscles or to freshen a space and keep mold and pests at bay.

Biblical References to Cinnamon

In the Old Testament, cinnamon was one of the spices that God instructed Moses to use in the anointing oil for the Tabernacle and for the garments of the high priest (Exodus 30:22-33). In Proverbs 7:17, the scent of cinnamon is used as a metaphor for the allure of temptation and sensual pleasure.

In the New Testament, cinnamon is mentioned as an imported item of great value from India (Revelation 18:11-13). In addition, cinnamon was one of the gifts that the Queen of Sheba brought to King Solomon (1 Kings 10:10).

In biblical times, cinnamon was considered to symbolize wealth, fortune, and prosperity. Its sweet aroma was thought to evoke feelings of joy, warmth, and sensuality.

NOTE: This oil is Hot! Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil should not be used during pregnancy or during breastfeeding. It also needs to be highly diluted (at less than 1%) if being used topically.

Benefits

Purifying and Detoxifying

Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil is a powerful purifier, as viruses, bacteria, and fungus cease to live in the oil. In addition, cinnamon bark oil is commonly used to help heal topical and respiratory infections.

Digestion and Weight Loss

A drop on the tongue instantly has a heating effect that stimulates digestion and imparts a sense of satisfaction and satiety.

Joint Pain Relief

Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil is a hot oil (it feels hot when used on the skin neat, and must be blended with carrier oil when used topically). Because of this, Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil is used in aromatherapy to help relieve symptoms of rheumatism, arthritis, and sore muscles.

Stimulating the Mind, Body, and Spirit

Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil is regarded in aromatherapy for its ability to increase blood flow and increase circulation to the mind and the body, while uplifting the spirit and ridding one of anxiety and depression. Also, the oil is used to ease irritability, drowsiness, and increase libido.

Erectile Function

In animal studies, cinnamon was found to improve erectile function.  It has also been shown to help smooth muscle relaxation in the penis.

Another study showed that cinnamon can increase testosterone levels, sperm count, and sperm motility.

With more testosterone and improved blood flow to the penis, cinnamon may help maintain an erection for sexual activity.

Directions

Direct Inhalation: This oil can be inhaled directly from the bottle. Or, you can put a few drops in your hands and cup them over the mouth and nose. Be careful not to get the oil directly in your eyes. The oil can also be diluted if it's too hot. Dilution is especially indicated for children and those with sensitivities.

(Note: if the oil does get in your eyes, it's not a big deal. Don't panic and don't flush with water. Just wait a few minutes for the eyes to clear themselves)

Aphrodisiac / Massage Oil: Make sure to dilute this oil to about 1-2% if you apply it directly to the body...especiall if applying it to the genital area. The oil can be blended with carrer oil or other essential oils to cool it down. Direct inhalation is also very effective, but if you want the scent in your room, it's best to use the use the Drawer and Space Refresher method below.

Drawer and Space Refresher: Adding a few drops to a handkerchief, pillow case, square of fabric, or a cotton ball and place in a drawer or other space. The same method can also be used for indirect inhalation. It may be beneficial to dilute the oil first.

Breath Freshener / Energizer: If you don't mind the heat, you can put a drop on your tongue. If it's too much, just dilute the oil in an edible carrier oil, such as our sunflower or hazelnut oils.

Culinary: Use in sweet or savory culinary dishes and drinks by adding a few drops to your recipes. It can be used as a substitute for fresh or ground cinnamon.

4-6 drops will likely be enough for an entire culinary dish, but it's good to experiment to find out the right amount for your purposes.

A few drops of cinnamon oil added to a smoothie, or a warm, fatty drink is another way to enjoy cinnamon's sensory delights, while while also garnering its therapeutic benefits.

Cautionary Note: essential oil doesn't emulsify in liquids that do not contain fat. If you add cinnamon to a non-fatty liquid it will pool on top of the liquid and likely be too strong for the delicate tisses of the mouth.

Blends well with: Bergamot, Clove Bud, Frankincense, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lemon, Mandarin, Orange, Peppermint, Rose, Vanilla and Ylang Ylang

VERY STRONG

I originally bought this to use for knee pain, and realized that even though the fragrance was awesome, I should have mixed it with some carrier oil. Great oil, just be careful not to put it directly on your skin unless you mix it first.
