Essential oils are extra potent compared to botanicals in their full-bodied state. In fact, all essential oils are toxic in high quantities. However, using a few drops in foods and drinks is a great way to add flavor, variety, and therapy to your culinary adventures.
When using essential oils for flavoring food, start with only a single drop, and test the flavor. Do not add essential oils to water or non-fatty liquid as it won't emulsify... the oil will just sit on top of the water and make contact with the mouth all at once.
