Description
A native to the Mediterranean, this botanical, that goes by many names, is a bushy, erect, aromatic herb with yellow flowers who express a camphorous aroma.
This beautiful blue/green essential oil is expressed from Inula flowers organically in France. The oil has a fresh, clean, sweet aroma. It is bright green in color, which is what happens when this plant is distilled in a copper still. When Inula is distilled in a stainless steel still, it turns out light yellow color instead.
This particular batch of Inula Essential Oil has very high levels of Bornyl acetate, which is responsible for the analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, expectorant, and sedating effects of this oil. Bornyl acetate is also well known as a relaxant to the autonomic nervous system.
Benefits
Respiratory Conditions & Congestion... Inula's most well-known therapeutic application is loosening mucous and congestion that lies deep in the lungs. Try working with Inula if you are experiencing sinusitis, laryngitis, bronchitis, a cold, or any type of cough.
Asthma... Inula is also safe to use when you have asthmatic symptoms. Research indicates that this essential oil has bronchospasmolytic and mucolytic properties.
Joint Pain... Inula contains Borneol, which is a popular ingredient in many arthritic medications. It also has several other anti-inflammatory chemical components. Try diluting this essential oil in a carrier oil and applying it to stiff joints.
