The unique and fresh Blue Cypress Essential Oil is derived from the Australian Coastal Cypress Pine. The Aboriginal and Tiwi people have used cypress pine for its various medicinal properties for thousands of years. The indigenous people would grind the bark and berries to use as a face and body cleanser and a sun-protective moisturizer. A mixture of wood ash and water was used to support aches and pains, infusions for cuts and sores, and wraps to ease menses cramps. When burnt it repelled bugs and created a therapeutic vapor, much like it’s used in aromatherapy today.

This plant medicine was called “Blue Gold” because of its many valuable uses and the rare blue color. Blue Cypress Essential Oil is unique in that it is the only blue essential oil derived from wood, not flowers, like the other “blue” oils. This color variation is due to the combination of the heartwood and bark being co-distilled together. This oil can be used in perfumery as a “fixative” and as a grounding note in essential oil blends and has a rich history in cosmetics for its great aroma and its luxurious skin-soothing properties.
Like most of the “blue” oils, Blue Cypress Essential Oil is a wonderful support for skin health including reddened, irritated or inflamed conditions. It has antibacterial properties and may assist in the healing of the skin and reduction in scarring.
*Not safe for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
