When it comes to using essential oils for hormone balance, there are many aromas and several application methods to choose from. Once you find one or a few that work for you, I think you'll find that it's simple, fun, and restorative to include aromatherapy in your daily routine.

Cortisol, estrogen, thyroid...If you've been reading up on health topics, chances are that you've come across these names very often. They are all types of hormones, and hormones are a topic that's getting more attention with each passing year.

With all the side effects that seem to come with taking hormone replacement drugs, an increasing number of people are turning to essential oils to stimulate hormonal balance.

In fact, when I was diagnosed with severe adrenal fatigue back in 2016, I tried the drugs and supplements prescribed by a naturopath. But going down that path led to constipation, bloating, swelling, heart trouble, and even more fatigue.

I found out that when it comes to hormones, there is no good or bad. It's all about having a hormonal balance that adapts appropriately as you go through your day. As you may have experienced, this balance can seem very delicate, and many things seem to be able to upset it: stress, illness, pregnancy, your diet, environmental toxins, or aging.

The role of hormones is to be the body's signaling mechanism. Hormones are apparently complex little chemicals that travel around telling various parts of your body how to work.

There are several dozen different hormones, and the picture quickly becomes very complicated, with one hormone stimulating the release of another, which in turn stimulates the release of a third, which does something else.

Different parts of the body are apparently responsible for producing different hormones, and there seem to be complex feedback mechanisms that regulate the levels of each hormone.

In my case, I found that trying to make my body achieve normal hormonal ranges using drugs and supplements backfired significantly. In fact, I ended up having a near-death experience (which was awesome for other reasons).

When the hormones go out of balance, things seem to get very bad very quickly. Cancer, heart disease, depression, and just about any kind of illness can be often attributed to hormone imbalances. Also, hormone imbalances can apparently contribute to other health issues, such as obesity, infertility, or autoimmune conditions.

The good news is that essential oils work with your mind on the causal level of hormonal imbalances (your mental state), so you don't need to know which essential oils are good for raising or lowering certain hormones.

Essential oils have helped me to achieve hormonal balance without any side effects.

That's because, unlike drugs and supplements, essential oils don't force a change in hormonal production. They help raise awareness of the mental cause of hormonal imbalance and stimulate the mind's inherent ability to self-heal.

Best Essential Oils for Hormonal Balance

What follows is a short list of essential oils that I find to be particularly useful for encouraging the mind to balance out its hormone production.

The most well-known for this purpose are Clary Sage and Rose Geranium, but there are many others that fit into this category, including but not limited to:

How to use essential oils for Hormone Balance

A few common ways to use essential oils for hormonal balance is by mixing 2-7 drops in a tablespoon of therapeutic carrier oil and applying it over the affected gland or to the soles of your feet.

Essential oils can also be diffused regularly in a commercial diffuser.

But any usage method will work for this purpose. To learn about the different ways to use essential oils, see This Post.
