Melissa essential oil, derived from the lemon balm plant (Melissa officinalis), carries a name that resonates deeply with its historical and botanical roots. The name comes from the Greek term that translates to "honey bee."

According to Greek folklore, Melissa was a nymph who instructed the gathering of honey and it is said that this is how bees were named. It is a known fact that planting lemon balm close to beehives results in the production of exceptionally tasty and sweet honey.

Melissa Essential Oil "The Elixir of Life"

According to Avicenna, a renowned physician from Ancient Rome, Melissa was referred to as the "elixir of life" because of its ability to treat nervous disorders, emotions, and heart conditions.

Nowadays, Melissa is renowned for its delightful and relaxing lemony aroma and incredible benefits for the skin, blood, and nervous system. It is commonly utilized in various balms and salves. Melissa Oil not only shows remarkable effects on the physical body but also has the ability to deeply penetrate the human psyche and aid in restoring mental clarity!

Melissa Oil General Information

Melissa essential oil, which can be found at Miracle Botanicals, is derived from the lemonbalm plant's leaves and tops using the process of steam distillation. Its expensive cost is attributed to the limited amount of oil that can be extracted from the plant, as it takes approximately three tons of lemonbalm to create just 500ml of Melissa essential oil.

It should be noted that there is a variety of Melissa oils available on the market, but they are significantly cheaper and are typically a blend of Lemongrass and Citronella. However, these do not possess the same therapeutic benefits as "Melissa Officinales," which is derived directly from the lemonbalm plant.
