Hawaiian Kukui Nut Oil - Cold Pressed (Aleurites Moluccana)
- Cold-pressed from the Hawaiian kukui nut. Cold-pressed from the kernel of Aleurites moluccana, this oil is grown in Hawaii.
- A carrier, not an essential oil. Use kukui on skin on its own, or as a base for blending essential oils. How to use it.
- Light and fast-absorbing. Kukui sinks in fast and does not clog pores, so it suits the face and everyday skin.
- An oil we use ourselves. Like everything we sell, we use this kukui too.
- Third-party tested. Checked by an outside lab, like all of our oils, kukui is free of synthetics and adulteration.
- The same oil in every size. Pick the bottle that suits you, and start light if kukui is new to you. Compare sizes.

6 benefits of Hawaiian Kukui Nut Oil
A light face and body oil
Kukui nut oil works on its own as a light face and body oil. The oil is fast-absorbing and non-comedogenic, so it feels light on the face and leaves no greasy shine. Smoothed over clean skin, it disappears quickly.
A base for your own blends
As a carrier, kukui gives you a base for your own blends, a light oil you add concentrated essential oils to before they touch skin. It spreads them thin so they are gentle to use, which is the whole job of a carrier. Kukui carries a scent without fighting it.
The oil in a lomi lomi massage
Hawaiians have long used kukui oil in lomi lomi, the islands' own massage, and it still makes a smooth, light massage oil. It spreads easily and stays workable without dragging on the skin. The scent sits soft in the background.
A light oil for the scalp and hair
This oil works over the scalp and through the lengths as a light everyday oil. It coats the hair without weighing it down, then combs out clean. A little goes a long way here.
A Hawaiian oil for the connoisseur
Grown in Hawaii, this is the real thing, the hard-to-find bottle a collector goes looking for. Ours is pressed from nuts grown on the islands themselves.
What kukui is made of
Kukui carries a lot of polyunsaturated fatty acids, mainly linoleic and alpha-linolenic. Those light, unsaturated oils are why it sinks in the way it does and feels barely there. We put no percentage on them, since we have no analysis of this oil to quote.
How to use
On the skin
TopicalKukui is a carrier, so you can smooth it straight onto skin with nothing added. Patch test a little on your inner forearm and wait a day before you use it more widely. Keep it for external use only.
For blending
As a baseTo blend essential oils into kukui, dilute them into it, never onto skin on their own. For the face, aim for about 1 percent, which is 6 drops of essential oil in 30 ml of kukui, and for the body about 2 percent, 12 drops in 30 ml. A carrier is what makes an essential oil gentle enough to wear.
Keeping it fresh
StorageKukui oxidizes faster than more stable oils, so store it somewhere cool and dark. Refrigerate it after you open it, then let it come back to room temperature before use. Do not leave it standing in a warm, bright spot.
Before you start
First useKukui comes from a tree nut, so check with a physician first if you have a nut allergy. Keep it out of reach of children. It is for external use, not for taking by mouth.
