Description
Our True Sweet Birch Essential Oil is distilled by a small family owned distiller in Canada, using birch bark material collected in Canada and Adirondack. This Sweet Birch Essential Oil is one of the only authentic birch oils produced on the market today, with quite a bit more complexity than the typical commercial "birch oil" on the market. Sweet Birch Essential Oil is steam distilled from the bark of the birch tree, which must be macerated and soaked for up to 12 hours before distillation. Sweet Birch is native to southern Canada, Northern USA, and some parts of Russia and Eastern Europe. Sweet Birch was originally used by North American native tribes as a tonic and for joint mobility and joint and muscle pains.
In aromatherapy today, Sweet Birch is commonly used for its muscle and joint pain relieving properties, as well as respiratory issues. Sweet Birch is an astringent and may be used in skincare blends to help tone, tighten, and soften the skin. Being an antiseptic, Sweet Birch Essential Oil is also used to help protect the skin from bacterial and fungal infections. Sweet Birch Essential Oil must always be diluted when applied directly to the skin, as the oil may be irritating when applied neat.
NOTE: This Essential Oil comes with a Child Resistant Cap. Due to its high salicylate and methyl salicylate content, Sweet Birch Essential Oil should not be used on children, during pregnancy, or while breastfeeding.

How to Safely Inhale Birch Essential Oil Using a Waterless Diffuser
Using a waterless essential oil diffuser is an excellent way to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of birch essential oil. This method disperses the oil directly into the air without the need for water, ensuring a potent and effective inhalation experience. Here’s how to do it safely and effectively:
Steps for Using a Waterless Diffuser with Birch Essential Oil
- Preparation:
- Ensure the Diffuser is Clean: Before use, make sure your waterless diffuser is clean and free from residue from previous oils.
- Select Mild Carrier Oils: Since birch essential oil is potent, consider blending it with milder oils like lavender, chamomile, or sweet orange to create a balanced aroma and reduce the risk of irritation.
- Blending the Oils:
- Recipe: Mix 5-6 drops of birch essential oil with 10-15 drops of a milder essential oil (e.g., lavender, chamomile, or sweet orange). This helps to dilute the intensity of birch oil while still reaping its benefits.
- Instructions: Add the blended oils directly to the diffuser's essential oil compartment.
- Operating the Diffuser:
- Instructions: Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for your specific model. Generally, you will need to turn on the diffuser and select your preferred diffusion intensity.
- Placement: Place the diffuser in a well-ventilated area to ensure even distribution of the essential oils.
Important Safety Notes
- Patch Test: Always perform a patch test before using a new essential oil blend on a larger area of the skin. Apply a small amount of the diluted oil to a small area of skin and wait 24 hours to check for any adverse reactions.
- Avoid Ingestion: Birch essential oil should never be ingested due to its high methyl salicylate content, which can be toxic.
- Consultation: If you have any underlying health conditions, are pregnant, nursing, or are taking medications, consult a healthcare professional or a trusted aromatherapist before using birch essential oil.
