6 benefits of Frankincense Carterii
Dry and mature skin
Thanks to its anti-inflammatory compounds, a few drops of Frankincense Carterii in a carrier oil help bring life back to dry, mature skin.
Deep, calm breathing
Frankincense Carterii helps widen the airways and encourages slow, deep breaths, which makes it a good choice for steam inhalation.
Clearer lungs
Its expectorant properties help the lungs clear built-up mucus and other irritants that can make breathing harder.
A calmer mood
Frankincense has a long history in religious ceremonies because it helps focus the mind. Diffuse it to ease anxiety and clear away feelings of distress or self-doubt.
Rashes and irritated skin
The same anti-inflammatory compounds make it useful for painful rashes and for skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.
A base for blends
As a deep base note, it gives lighter oils something to hold on to. Try it in equal parts with Ginger, Roman Chamomile and Bergamot in your diffuser.
How to use
On the skin
DilutedMix 6 to 12 drops into one ounce of a carrier oil such as Meadowfoam Seed Oil, a 1 to 2% dilution. Massage a few drops of the blend into clean, damp skin. If your skin is sensitive, patch test a small spot first.
Diffuser
In the airFollow your diffuser maker's instructions. In a nebulizing diffuser, 8 to 20 drops is typical. Frankincense Carterii works well on its own or as the base of a blend.
Steam inhalation
For congestionAdd 5 drops to a pot of steaming water. Cover your head with a towel, lean over the pot and breathe in the steam slowly, with your eyes closed.
Bath
In the bathMix 4 to 5 drops into a handful of bath salt, or into an ounce of light cream or whole milk, then stir it into the bath water.
