Melissa Essential Oil (Lemonbalm) - Organic (Melissa Officinalis)

Melissa, also called lemon balm, is steam distilled from the leaves of Melissa officinalis grown in Bulgaria. The oil has a golden yellow color and a thin consistency. Our organic Melissa has a herbaceous aroma with a deep, slightly sweet character.

Melissa is prized in aromatherapy, where it is considered one of the most powerful essential oils. It is also one of the most adulterated oils in the industry, so it matters where it comes from. It is a rare oil, and that is why it costs more. A Melissa steam distillation can yield less than a tenth of a percent, and very few distillations are even attempted.

To use it on the skin, mix 6 to 12 drops into an ounce of carrier oil, a 1 to 2% dilution. In a nebulizing diffuser, 8 to 20 drops is typical, following the maker's instructions. If you would like to try it at a lower price, the 10ml Dilute is a good place to start. For a bath, mix 4 to 5 drops into a handful of bath salt before adding it to the water.
