This ancient guardian tree is relatively new to the aromatherapy world, and doesn't yet have the same quantity of documented research behind it as some of the more accessible Pine oils. Its name may also be spelled "Pinyon Pine" and "Pinion Pine".

Piñon Pine is a slow-growing tree, and many of its specimens are over 750 years old. It is native to Mexico and the Southwest part of the United States, with many trees growing up in the "Four Corners" area of the United States as well. This unique and rare oil sets itself apart from other Pine oils with soft fruity top notes and a heart-melting resinous base that opens the heart and lungs.

Much like Scotch Pine Essential Oil,  Piñon Pine's aroma lends itself well to respiratory support and opening the breath. Keep this oil within reach of the yoga mat, and on-hand during cold season. It is also considered to be regenerative and balancing for the body's endocrine system, and can be utilized as a tonic for the adrenals. It stimulates healthy circulation in the body and is used by many indigenous tribes for cancer, tumors, cleaning the blood, skin infections, and colds.

Piñon Pine likes higher elevations, and acts as a sacred witness to everything it experiences in its long lifetime, like a wizened historian of the forest. Just as it can be easier to see the "big picture" from a distance, Piñon Pine Essential Oil has been known to support emotional healing by lending a higher perspective and distance from one's emotions. This plant ally is the perfect choice for times when we are working through deep emotional pain or processing past hurts.

The healing energy of Piñon Pine also extends to its edible nuts, which were a staple food for several indigenous tribes before the prevalent colonization of the Americas, including the Navajo, Apache, Shoshone, Zuni, and Paiute tribes. It could even be ground up and made into a "mother's milk" soup that would nourish babies whose mothers had passed.

This sacred tree has many medicinal and ceremonial applications within these tribal cultures. The branches and mature trees are incorporated into certain ceremonial dances, and used in womens' rite of passage ceremonies. The resin is burned as a sacred incense, and is said to provide spiritual protection. Those who subscribe to the Doctrine of Signatures also believe that this plant may awaken the Third Eye, as the cones of this tree closely resemble the pineal gland.

This particular Piñon Pine Essential Oil is very special because it is all sustainably wildcrafted by hand, and made in very small artisan batches. This individual batch was lovingly brought to life with the help of the artisan's own grandfather, further instilling this oil with the frequencies of patience and multigenerational wisdom. These needles and branches were sustainably harvested in Arizona, near the Walnut Canyon National Monument.

Anti-Inflammatory... Piñon pine essential oil can be used topically to treat irritations due to arthritis, skin infections, and to relieve pain and swelling.

Opens up airways... Like other Pine oils, Piñon Pine essential oil helps open up congested and constricted breathing passageways. It can be a great aid in cases of coughs, colds, and it helps clear up excess mucus and deepen the breath.

Tumors... Piñon Pine essential oil has been used by indigenous tribes to treat cancer and stop the growth of tumors for thousands of years, though there is currently no medical research to support this function.

Cold & Flu... Piñon Pine essential oil has been used for support when experiencing cough, congestion, mucous, or a sore throat.

Anti-Parasitic... The gum and resin of this tree has been boiled and added to water to cure intestinal parasites and worms, so the essential oil of this tree likely contains the same chemical components.
