If you found this page because you wanted to know where to get essential oils with Vitamin C in them, it's time to let the cat out of the bag.... Essential oils and carrier oils do not generally contain any Vitamin C!

We spoke with the lead chemists of some of our favorite essential oil testing facilities, and they confirmed that they do not generally see Vitamin C come up on the GC/MS reports for any of their essential oils or carrier oils. When it comes to citrus, for example, Vitamin C is mostly found in the juice of the fruits and not in the rind which the essential oil is distilled from.

Vitamin C is actually a water-soluble, hydrophilic substance. This means that it is water-loving, and does not combine well with oil of any kind. It is true that some essential oils and carrier oils do contain vitamins and nutrients, but Vitamin C is just not one of them.

That being said, there are still a lot of immune-boosting and skin-protecting properties that can be experienced from the terpenes that do naturally occur in essential oils. There have been some reports of lemon essential oil and other citrus essential oils enhancing the body's ability to absorb Vitamin C, but I haven't found any definite confirmation of that.

However, I am aware that Citrus oils in particular are very high in a chemical class called monoterpenes, which are known to boost immune function in the body.

While the presence of vitamins in steam-distilled essential oils and essential oils that are cold-pressed from the peel, they are full of different kinds of terpenes which appear to help the body to regulate and absorb vitamins more efficiently.

In this way, the correct question may be: "Which terpenes can help improve the absorption of particular vitamins and minerals". In this case, monoterpenes, which largely comprise cold-pressed citrus essential oils, looks promising.

At Miracle Botanicals, all of our citrus essential oils are cold-pressed from the peel because that how to get the highest quality and most therapeutic essential oil from citruses. Experience the fresh scent of cold-pressed citrus oils today!
