Description

CO2 Extracted Calendula oil is a smooth and calming oil extracted from petals of the Marigold flower. Calendula has been used in medicinal healing for centuries, and is used in many cosmetic products for skin care and protection.

Calendula is known for its excellent anti-inflammatory and vulnerary properties, and is often used for wounds, ulcers, bruises, rashes, burns, and skin conditions. Calendula oil is also used to reduce the appearance of spider veins and varicose veins.

This particular CO2 Extraction of Calendula yields an oil that is especially high in faradiol esters, which gives the oil exceptionally potent anti-inflammatory properties. Chemical tests of CO2 Extracted Calendula also reveal that this oil contains more a-cadinol, T-cadinol, T-muurolol, g-cadinene, hexadecanoic acid, and ledane than steam distilled Calendula Essential Oils. In addition, the essential oils of the CO2 extracts contained d-cadinene, which was not found in steam distilled Calendula Essential Oil at all.

Calendula is beneficial when added to massage oil to help to heal, soothe, and soften. It may be added to skin and body oil blends or can be used directly on the skin when using our 25% Dilute in Argan Oil (see size drop-down menu).

Benefits

Skincare... Calendula is often used in skin healing, as the oil is soothing, rejuvenating, and skin regenerating. Calendula oil is used to assist with and treat most minor skin disorders including acne, scars, rash, sunburn, and infection. Calendula can help to soothe and soften any type of chapped or rough skin. It has also been used to help with ringworm.

Faster healing... Calendula's chemical composition has been proven through animal studies to speed up wound-healing by increasing blood flow and promoting the production of collagen proteins. It's anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties can help to keep the wounded area free of infection as well.

Antiseptic... Calendula oil has a high flavonoid content, making the oil highly antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. Calendula oil makes an excellent addition to mouthwashes and gargles to help soothe sore throats and mouth tissue.

The real deal!

Extraction process renders a safe, effective extract. I have used this for minor wound healing on my very elderly Mother and her skin responded exceptionally well with complete healing!

Honestly, I have been unable to use. I did not realize if was so concentrated and I would need to mix with a carrier oil. It is too strong and stains my skin as is. I need to investigate buying a carrier oil.

Aloha, Holly! Yes, pure Co2-extracted Calendula is very potent. Please feel free to reach out to us if you would like help selecting a carrier oil to suit your purposes. In the future, we also have the pre-diluted Co2 Calendula that is appropriate for immediate topical application.
