Description
Neroli Hydrosol is derived from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree.
In order to create quality Neroli Hydrosol (and Neroli Essential Oil), the orange blossoms must be harvested and distilled immediately thereafter. This flower yields one of the most complex-smelling hydrosols on the market, and many people actually prefer wearing the hydrosol as perfume or cologne instead of the essential oil. The aroma is floral, sweet, fruity, refreshing, sublime and luscious, with a hint of green-ness. It is appealing to both men and women.
This hydrosol also boasts many therapeutic properties, including the ability to calm the nervous system without causing sleepiness. It is wonderful for caffeine jitters, calming children, or soothing shock. Some research suggests it may also be helpful for people with ADHD and supportive for the physical and emotional bodies when one's system is going through detox.
In skincare, this floral water is considered to be a wonderful aid for delicate, sensitive, or oily skin. It has been used to clear acne and irritations, and makes a great addition to face masks or used as a toner on its own. (Because of its astringent nature, it may be better to avoid use on very dry skin.)
Properties: Astringent, Antibacterial, Antimicrobial, Antianxiety, Aphrodisiac, Sedative, Tonic
Benefits
Skincare and Anti-aging
Neroli is a prized ingredient in anti-aging and skincare. The hydrosol is slightly astringent. Neroli is known as one of the most effective medicines on earth for increasing the skin's elasticity and causing wrinkles, stretch marks, and scars left by acne, boils and pox to fade away.
It is used by aromatherapists to promote the generation of new cells and stimulates the health of those already present. This makes the skin grow stronger, healthier and encourages the reduction of lines and wrinkles.
Neroli is bactericidal, which means it can kill harmful bacteria and keep the skin free from microbial infections. This makes it useful for helping with bacterial skin conditions and rashes of all kinds.
Antidepressant
Neroli is well known for being an antidepressant. Its essential oil has been shown to naturally improve a person's mood, invoking relaxed feelings of joy and happiness. Neroli is used extensively in aromatherapy for this reason.
Sedative
Neroli is used as a sedative for both the mind and body. It has been known to relax all of the organ systems and metabolic functions of the body, including those associated with the brain and nervous system.
Aphrodisiac
One of Neroli's greatest gifts is its ability to blot out shame from experiences involving playfulness or sensuality, allowing rather, a deep sense of natural innocence to prevail. The aroma of Neroli Essential Oil increases libido and awakens sexual arousal. Traditionally, newly-wedded couples would spread Neroli on their wedding bed to enhance sexual intimacy and sooth their uneasiness. It can also help reverse loss of interest in sex, frigidity, impotence and erectile dysfunctions.
Awakens Creativity, Wisdom and Intuition
Neroli opens the heart and can add an artist's flare of imagination, as it awakens innate creativity. Such action also relates to flexibility and wisdom, and the sharpened intuition that the Neroli Essential Oil inspires.
