Description
Cypress Essential Oil is extracted from the Cypresses Sempervirens tree, also known as Mediterranean Cypress. In ancient times, it was referred to as the "Tree which lives forever" due to its long life and ability to resist forest fires.
Cypress Essential Oil contains mostly the component alpha pinene, an organic compound of the terpene class. Alpha pinene contributes to cypress' anti-inflammatory action. Alpha pinene is known as a bronchodilator, which increases airflow to the lungs, helping with obstructive lung diseases. Cypress Essential Oil also contains Cedrol, a constituent of Cedarwood Essential Oil. Cedrol is a sedative and improves sleep, giving Cypress its grounding and relaxing properties.
