Turmeric Essential Oil - Organic - CO2 Extracted (Curcuma Longa)
- Turmeric essential oil, CO2 extracted from the rhizome. Curcuma longa, grown in Vietnam and carbon dioxide extracted by small-batch producers.
- The turmerones are the aromatic oil, not curcumin. Curcumin colors the ground spice, while the turmerones are the volatile compounds you smell. Read the difference.
- CO2 extracted, closer to the raw rhizome. A carbon dioxide extract holds more of the fresh aroma than heat leaves behind.
- A warm, spicy scent with dry wood underneath. The fragrant part of the plant, a world away from the jar in the spice rack.
- An oil we use ourselves. Like everything we sell, we use this turmeric too.
- Organic and third-party tested. Every oil in our range goes to an outside lab, not just this turmeric. Pick your size on the Compare tab. Compare sizes.

Turmeric, the CO2 extract of the Curcuma longa rhizome
6 benefits of Turmeric Essential Oil
A warm, spicy oil for the diffuser
In a diffuser, turmeric essential oil warms a room with spice and a dry-wood edge, the aromatic part of the rhizome rather than the ground spice. A little carries a long way, so keep the amount low. It's the scent that matters here, the fresh side of turmeric the spice jar never shows.
A golden oil for a carrier blend
Blended into a carrier oil, turmeric essential oil adds warm spice and a golden tint to a body or facial blend. Because it's so richly colored, it will lightly tint skin and light fabric until it soaks in. A warm color to sit under a warm scent.
An anchor for the perfumer's bench
Turmeric essential oil works as a warm, spicy anchor in perfumery, sitting under citrus and lighter woods and holding them in place. It settles slowly and lingers, so a little shifts the character of a whole accord. Perfumers use it where a sweeter spice would take over.
A spice-family companion in a blend
Part of the ginger family, turmeric essential oil blends naturally with ginger and the warm spices like black pepper, cardamom and clove. In a diffuser or a blend it adds depth without turning sharp. This is a scent pairing, chosen for how the spices sit together.
A connoisseur's turmeric, not the supplement
This is a CO2 extract chosen for its aroma, not the yellow capsule turmeric is usually sold as. The turmerones carry the scent, and CO2 extraction keeps it near the raw rhizome. It's the aromatic oil itself, offered for what it is.
The dye and spice behind the oil
Long before it was an oil, turmeric was a dye and a spice, the color in monks' robes and saris, the Indian saffron of Medieval Europe, and the haldi paste of a wedding day. Our CO2 extract is the aromatic side of that same rhizome, kept for its scent. The history is the plant's, and the scent is what we bottle.
How to use
Diffuser
In the airAdd 3 to 4 drops in a water diffuser for a medium room, then a drop at a time until the scent is right. Diffuse for 30 to 60 minutes, then give the room a break for the same time with fresh air moving. Wipe a pale diffuser after, since the oil is yellow-orange and can stain.
On the skin
Diluted, patch-testedDilute turmeric essential oil to 1 to 2 percent before it touches skin, which is about 12 drops in 30 ml of a carrier oil like jojoba, and around half that for the face. Patch test on your inner forearm and wait a day before wider use. We do not use this oil neat, and it stays out of reach of children.
Around the home
Surfaces and fabricKeep turmeric essential oil off pale fabric, countertops and light-colored diffusers, since it stains and the color is hard to lift. Wipe up any spill promptly and wash your hands after handling it. Store it capped, away from heat and light.

Method. Add the drops to a water diffuser and run it for 30 to 60 minutes. The sweet orange brightens the blend while the ginger sharpens the spice, so the turmeric sits underneath and holds it together. Wipe the diffuser afterward, then air the room.
Method. Stir the drops into the jojoba oil in a small bottle and roll it between your palms before use. The sandalwood carries the turmeric and the ginger keeps it lively, a warm, spicy trail that stays close to the skin. Expect a faint golden tint while it absorbs, so give it a minute before dressing.
