Champaca, the wildcrafted floral
Champaca is a CO2 extract of Michelia champaca flowers, sweet, fruity, floral and rich, with an exotic, sensual depth. It comes preblended into a soft carrier oil, so it is gentle against the skin. In a blend it brings the floral lift that carries the deeper oils.
Jasmine, a rare Indian floral
Jasmine is a CO2 extract of Jasminum grandiflorum, sweet, floral, warm and rich, among the great perfume florals. Like the champaca, it arrives already softened in a carrier and sits gently on skin. A single drop lifts a blend without covering it.
Light Patchouli, a mint-family leaf oil
Light Patchouli is steam distilled from the leaves of Pogostemon cablin, earthy, spicy, mellow, fresh and bright, the light end of patchouli rather than a heavy one. It grounds a blend and holds the florals in place.
Himalayan Cedarwood, the deodar
Himalayan Cedarwood is steam distilled from the wood of Cedrus deodara, the Himalayan deodar, woody, dry, warm and balsamic. It's the steadiest base in the set, sitting under the sharper oils. A little runs through a blend for a long time.
Indian Vetiver, a root oil
Indian Vetiver comes from the roots of Chrysopogon zizanioides, steam distilled and deep, sweet, heavy, earthy and woody. Vetiver is the slowest oil in the set to fade, and the easiest to overdo. Keep it light so it supports a blend rather than taking it over.
Davana, the whole-plant oil
Davana is distilled from the whole plant of Artemisia pallens, sweet, rich and fruity. It is the most unusual scent in the set and rewards a careful hand. Try a little in a blend before you reach for more.
How to use
The two ready-to-use florals
Skin-readyChampaca and jasmine are already 10% oil in 90% meadowfoam, so they can go straight onto skin as they are. Do a patch test on the inner forearm and wait a day before wider use. Keep them out of reach of children.
The four neat oils
TopicalCedarwood, patchouli, vetiver and davana need diluting before they touch skin. Work them into a carrier at 1 to 3 percent, about 6 to 18 drops in 30 ml of a carrier oil such as jojoba. For young children, keep it to roughly 3 to 15 drops in the same 30 ml. Patch test first, and we do not put these oils on skin neat.
In the diffuser
In the airAdd a few drops of any of the oils to a room diffuser and run it in a room with fresh air moving. Diffuse for 30 to 60 minutes, then give the room a break for about the same time. Start light, since the vetiver and the florals carry a long way.

Method. Add the drops to a water diffuser and run for 30 to 60 minutes. The cedarwood and vetiver sit low and deep, and the champaca lifts a soft floral over the top of them.
Method. Stir the drops into the jojoba in a small bottle and roll it between your palms before use. These four come to about 2% in the 30 ml, and the champaca rounds them with a soft floral. Keep it capped and out of sunlight.
