6 benefits of Pink Grapefruit Essential Oil
A bright citrus for the diffuser
Pink grapefruit is a lively, fresh citrus for the diffuser, and a few drops fill a room with a clean, sunny scent. It's one of the easiest oils to run at home, light and cheerful without turning heavy. Add a little more until the room smells the way you want it.
A citrus lift for cleaning and room sprays
In a homemade cleaning spray or room spray, pink grapefruit adds a fresh citrus lift, the same bright smell the fruit's skin gives off. Add a little to a water-based spray for wiping surfaces or freshening the air. It works as a scent that deodorizes and freshens, not as a cleaner that does the job on its own.
In a body or facial oil
Blended into a carrier oil, pink grapefruit brings a bright, fresh citrus to a body or facial oil. It stays light on the skin and sits easily beside florals and softer woods. A little goes a long way, so keep the blend light.
The bright opening a perfumer builds on
A perfumer builds on the fast, bright opening of pink grapefruit, the part of a blend that lifts everything else. It flashes bright, then gives way to the slower, heavier materials underneath. A drop or two brings light to a heavy accord.
The everyday citrus of the range
The everyday member of the grapefruit family, pink grapefruit is softer and sweeter than most, and a good first oil for anyone new to aromatherapy. It sits alongside the hard-to-find connoisseur oils in our range without asking much of you. Bright and forgiving, you can use it freely.
Honestly labeled, sun caution and all
This is a citrus oil we label plainly, pink grapefruit taken from the fruit's rind. We tell you up front that it needs a carrier for the skin and comes with a sun caution, rather than bury it. An honest label is part of what you get from us.
How to use
Diffuser
In the airStart with 3 to 5 drops in a water diffuser for a medium room, then add a drop at a time until it smells right to you. Pink grapefruit is bright and carries well, so a little is plenty. Diffuse for 30 to 60 minutes, then give the room a break for the same time, with fresh air moving.
On the skin
TopicalPink grapefruit is phototoxic, so keep treated skin out of the sun for 12 hours after you apply it. For the skin, blend 2 drops into 30 ml of a carrier oil such as jojoba, well under the level where grapefruit oil can react in sunlight. Patch test a small spot on the inner forearm and wait a day before wider use. We do not use this oil neat.
Around the home
On surfacesFor a citrus surface spray, shake about 10 drops into 2 cups of water and use it to wipe down counters and other hard surfaces. Keep this one to surfaces, not skin, since it isn't carried in an oil. Shake it again before each use, because the oil and water separate.

Method. Add the drops to a water diffuser and run it for 30 to 60 minutes. The bergamot deepens the citrus while the lavender rounds it off, so the pink grapefruit stays the brightest part.
Method. Combine the drops with the carrier oil in a small bottle and roll it between your palms before use. Grapefruit oil is phototoxic, so this body oil isn't for skin that will meet the sun within 12 hours.
Method. Shake the drops through the water, then wipe it over countertops and other hard, wipe-clean spots. It's for surfaces, never skin, so leave it out of body blends. Rouse it each time, and make only what you'll use soon.
