Description
Tamanu oilāalso known as Foraha in Madagascar and Kamani in Hawaiāiāis cold pressed from the nut of the Calophyllum inophyllum tree, a resilient coastal species revered across tropical regions. The oil itself has a rich, deep scent and a bold, dark color that reflects its potency and natural origin.
Celebrated for centuries by indigenous cultures throughout Polynesia, Melanesia, Madagascar, and Southeast Asia, Tamanu oil has long been prized not only for its remarkable healing and nourishing abilities but also for its spiritual significance. In Hawaiāi, Kamani was valued both for its strong woodāused in canoe building and traditional craftsāand its sacred oil, passed down as a trusted remedy for skin and spiritual protection. Similarly, in Madagascar, Foraha oil has been used for generations to treat wounds, rheumatism, and skin conditions, reflecting a deep cultural heritage intertwined with nature.
Tamanu oil is considered one of the most active plant oils due to its unique fatty acid composition, which promotes new cell growth and boosts microcirculation. This makes it especially effective for scarred and damaged skin, as well as skin prone to ingrown hairs and spotting.
Many Tamanu oils on the market are filtered or refined, which can diminish their natural benefits. Our oil is virgin, cold-pressed, and unfiltered, retaining the full spectrum of healing, nourishing, and soothing properties. The slight sandy texture you may notice is actually naturally occurring fat globules that melt immediately on contact with skināan authentic sign of its purity and vitality.
