A perfume worn on its own
A single drop of neroli, stirred into a carrier and worn on the wrists, is a perfume by itself, because the blossom scent is complete without anything added to it. Orange blossom in the diffuser
Our neroli fills a room with orange blossom on a few drops in a diffuser, fewer than most oils need. The scent is bright when the mist starts and softens as the room warms. It suits a morning with the windows open, and an evening with nothing else running.
A scent that moves as it dries
On a blotter, neroli changes over the first hour, opening as bright citrus, turning honeyed and floral within minutes, and settling into a soft green sweetness that lasts. The citrus goes first. What stays is the flower, and it's the part people notice on you hours later.
The perfumer's bridge between citrus and flowers
This blossom oil is the classic link between a citrus opening and the florals that follow it, which is why cologne makers have leaned on neroli for three centuries. It shares linalool and linalyl acetate with bergamot, lavender and clary sage, so those three sit easily beside it. In a blend it lifts the flowers toward the citrus and keeps the citrus from turning thin.
A rare blossom oil
Moroccan neroli is one of the hard-to-find oils we stock, because every flower is hand-picked and the whole crop passes through the still before it fades. The bottle is small for that reason. Anyone who has smelled a thin or synthetic neroli knows the difference the first time they open this one.
A floral scent to wear on skin
Neroli in a carrier gives a light floral scent on skin, closer to fresh flower than to perfume. It suits a body oil after a shower, where the blossom lifts off warm skin for an hour or two, and it never turns heavy.
How to use
Diffuser
In the air3 to 5 drops of neroli in a water diffuser is enough for a medium room, so begin there and add one drop at a time if you want more. Neroli is strong for a flower oil and needs fewer drops than most. Run it for 30 to 60 minutes, then switch it off for as long and open a window.
On the skin
TopicalDilute neroli essential oil to 1 to 2 percent before it goes on the body, which is 6 to 12 drops in 30 ml of a carrier oil like argan or meadowfoam. For the face keep it to 3 to 6 drops per 30 ml. Patch test the blend on the inner elbow before you use it anywhere else. Neroli doesn't go on neat, and the bottle lives out of a child's reach. Because it's a distilled blossom oil, it carries none of the sun caution that some expressed citrus peel oils carry, bergamot above all.
The 10 percent dilute
Ready to wearThe neroli 10 percent dilute is one part neroli in nine parts meadowfoam seed oil, and it goes on the wrists and at the neck as a perfume without any further mixing. Meadowfoam has almost no scent of its own, so what you smell is the blossom. For the face, or for a full body oil, stir the dilute into more carrier first, because it's blended for small areas.
Bath
In the waterBlend 4 to 6 drops of neroli into a tablespoon of carrier or unscented bath oil before it goes anywhere near the water, then add it once the tub is full and swirl. Oil floats, so the carrier is what gets the drops to your skin diluted instead of neat.

Neroli essential oil smells of orange blossom, the flower on the tree and not the peel of its fruit. It's a white floral with a citrus lift at the opening, and one drop lasts for hours on a blotter or on skin. Think of the tree in flower, not the fruit.
The difference between neroli, petitgrain and bitter orange oil is the part of one tree that goes into the still, since all three come from Citrus aurantium subsp. amara. Neroli comes from the blossoms, petitgrain from the leaves and twigs, and bitter orange oil is cold pressed from the peel of the fruit. Petitgrain smells like a lighter, greener neroli, the peel oil smells of the fruit itself, and we sell all three. Bigarade is another name for the bitter orange, so the leaf oil is sold as petitgrain bigarade and this oil is sometimes sold as neroli bigarade.
No, neroli and orange blossom absolute both start as Citrus aurantium blossoms but are made differently, neroli by steam distillation and the absolute by solvent extraction. The absolute smells sweeter, warmer and more floral, while neroli comes out lighter and greener. The neroli is so sweet and comforting
The neroli is so sweet and comforting, I love blending it with an earthy oil, to make it my own. Some of the oils that I like to blend with it, is vetiver , Hawaiian sandalwood, patchouli and I always layer it with the neroli hydrosol. I do not use all of the oils together; I pick one depending on my mood! It feels so bright and clean and I have+ so many people asking me what I am wearing.
