- True lavender, not lavandin. This is Lavandula angustifolia, the narrow-leaved true lavender, not the lavandin hybrid (Lavandula x intermedia) that the market commonly sells as lavender.
- Grown in Hawai'i, rare and local. Raising this lavender in the tropics is unusual, since the plant does best in a dry Mediterranean climate, which is what the Rare and Local title points to.

Method. Combine both hydrosols in a small fine-mist bottle and shake to blend. Because a hydrosol has no preservative, keep the bottle chilled and use it within a couple of weeks. Shake again and mist over clean skin.
Method. Pour the lavender hydrosol and distilled water into a spray bottle and shake. Mist it over bed linens, drapes and soft furnishings, holding the bottle back far enough to leave an even, light layer. Shake before each use and spray from a short distance.
