Description
Organic Spikenard oil comes from a small flowering plant, locally known as jatamansi, which grows wild at the 10,000-foot elevation of the Himalayas. It is important to note that Spikenard is an endangered species and this Essential Oil might not be as available in the coming years. True Spikenard Essential Oil, produced from the root of the jatamansi plant, is blue to blue-green right after distillation, thereafter gradually changing into a golden amber color.
In ancient Egypt, spikenard was used as a luxurious aromatic, including for anointing Cleopatra and King Tut's tomb. In India, Spikenard has been in use for Ayurvedic practices in hair preparations to calm the mind and prevent hair loss. Spikenard is also referenced in the Bible as the oil used by Mary to anoint Jesus' feet.
Spikenard Essential Oil can help open the heart, activate ones sensitivity to a higher vibrational fulfillment, remove focus from the mundane and create balance in the mind. This makes Spikenard Essential Oil great for enhancing meditation and prayer.
