I made this list of 9 Aphrodisiac Essential Oils. These oils are stimulating and enlivening, they are thought to arouse the senses and improve circulation and vigor.

In 41 BC, Cleopatra set out at the head of a sumptuous fleet to meet her would-be new lover, Mark Antony. Cleopatra pulled out all the stops to impress Antony and to make herself as bewitching and irresistible as possible.

Beyond the gold and the jewelry that covered her body, she had a secret weapon: the purple sails of her ships were drenched in a heady, aphrodisiac perfume, believed today to have been a mixture of rose and neroli essential oils.

Episodes like this, with Cleopatra, show us how long essential oils have been used for millennia for their ability to stimulate love, passion, and sexual desire.

The fact is, our libido can be impacted, both positively and negatively, in many different ways. Everyday stress, anxiety, and fear can all contribute to how open and ready we are for love, sex, and intimacy.

Essential oils can encourage relaxation and release guilt and inhibitions. They also help build up vigor, and stamina, and their aromas can inspire close physical interaction. Essential oils can also awaken your senses, improve blood flow, and help you deal with hormonal issues that might be interfering with libido.

Here's a List of My Top 9 Aphrodisiac Essential Oils:

9 aphrodisiac essential oils

Bulgarian Rose Essential Oil
No flower is more closely associated with love than rose, and with good reason. Rose Otto has powerful aphrodisiac properties, whether it is inhaled, applied to the skin, or used to create a relaxing and fragrant bath.

Agarwood (OUD) Essential Oil
Agarwood or Oud oil is believed to be one of the most powerful natural aphrodisiacs, stoking passion and desire, releasing common sexual problems, and increasing natural playfulness and enjoyment.

King and Queen Essential Oil
Because of its impact on emotions and the heart chakra, Bulgarian Rose Otto is also a potent aphrodisiac.

Neroli Essential Oil
One of Neroli's greatest gifts is its ability to help us resolve shame related to sexuality, allowing rather, joyful innocence to prevail. The aroma of Neroli Essential Oil also stimulates the libido and awakens our sensuality.

Hawaiian Sandalwood Essential Oil
This oil can help relax nervous tension and increase blood flow to the genitals. (This works by inhalation and transfer through the skin. Do not put essential oils on the genitals unless they are diluted to 2% or less)

Damiana Essential Oil
Damiana Essential Oil has recently been found to increase oxygen flow to the genital areas, encouraging far more energy to flow to them. This results in a natural sexual stimulation for both men and women. In turn, Damiana Essential Oil assists with frigidity, reduced libido, and impotence.

Ylang Ylang Extra Essential Oil
Ylang Ylang Extra essential oil is a natural aphrodisiac as it enhances sexual desire, frees the mind from inhibitions, and increases sensations of joy and pleasure.

Vetiver Essential Oil
The aroma of vetiver speaks to warmth and sensuality. That coupled with the benefits of increased oxygen flow, emotional stability, and grounding makes it an excellent choice as an aphrodisiac.

Sexxy Essential Oil Blend
In addition to the obviously sexy, libido-stimulating aroma, the various oils in this blend are regarded in aromatherapy for their ability to increase blood flow to the mind and the body, while uplifting the spirit and relieving anxiety and depression.

I also made these essential oil blends that are useful as aphrodisiacs:

  • Passion This one is specifically for balancing the energy at the sacral chakra (the energy center related to sexual organs
  • Wisdom & Stillness This one has Palo Santo, Neroli, and Frankincense. Most people who try this blend say that it invokes romantic feelings.
  • Heart This one is Rosy coupled with Spikenard and some other aromas. This one tends to make people melt.
  • Faery Woods Another blend with Palo Santo. This one also has Agarwood, Hawaiian Sandalwood, and several other kinds of wood. Woods are natural aphrodisiacs, and this is an all-Woods blend.
  • Integrity This blend is very attractive. It speaks to integrity, a very sexy attribute. It's both masculine and feminine. It contains a lot of my favorite essential oils, including Agarwood, Rose, and Blue Tansy. There's a touch of cinnamon in there (another aphrodisiac), but the oil is not hot on the skin.

How can you use these oils to achieve an aphrodisiac effect?

Here are some ideas....

Massage oil:

1 oz. Meadowfoam Seed Oil
6 drops Rose Essential Oil
4 drops Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
Mix the oils together and apply liberally to the skin as part of a sensuous massage.

Bath blend:

1 teaspoon Pomegranate Seed Oil
3 drops Rose Otto Essential Oil
2 drops Dark Aged Patchouli
2 drops Agarwood Essential Oil

Mix the essential oils with the pomegranate seed oil before adding them to the bath water to help the oils to disperse well.

Diffuser:

Rose Essential Oil
Neroli Essential Oil
Vetiver Essential Oil
Simply use a few drops of each oil in your diffuser.

Perfume:

5ml (1tsp) Rosehip Seed Oil
15 drops Damiana Essential Oil
10 drops Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
10 drops Rose Essential Oil
35 drops Vetiver Essential Oil
30 drops Patchouli Essential Oil

Mix the oils together, and apply them to your skin directly to your wrists, to your neck, or any other part of your body that you want to smell fabulous.
