6 benefits of Peppermint Essential Oil
Muscle and joint relief
Menthol, the main compound in peppermint, has a strong pain-relieving effect. Diluted and massaged in, it helps ease muscle cramps and sore joints.
Headache relief
The same menthol helps ease headaches, too.
Open airways
Peppermint is used in aromatherapy to open up congested or tight breathing passages. Steam inhalation is an easy way to use it for this.
Allergy and sinus support
It is a great help during allergy season and when your sinuses feel stuffed up.
A calmer, brighter mood
Peppermint has long been used in aromatherapy to lift the spirits. It helps ease anxiety and negativity and replaces them with positive, stable feelings.
Tummy comfort
Blended with Roman Chamomile and Schisandra in Argan Oil and massaged onto the belly, it helps ease digestive discomfort.
How to use
Massage
DilutedMix 6 to 12 drops into one ounce of a carrier oil such as Pomegranate Seed Oil, a 1 to 2% dilution. Massage it into aching muscles and joints. If your skin is sensitive, patch test a small spot first.
Steam inhalation
For congestionAdd 5 drops to a pot of steaming water. Cover your head with a towel, lean over the pot and breathe in the steam slowly, with your eyes closed.
Diffuser
In the airFollow your diffuser maker's instructions. In a nebulizing diffuser, 8 to 20 drops is typical. Peppermint works well on its own or with Ginger and Cinnamon Bark.
